Step 1

Prepare your medication. Some medications will come in a tube with a cap that you have to push down to break the seal and then remove the cap. Some will come in a syringe where you will slightly pull back on the plunger (moveable part of the syringe) and twist the cap off.

Step 2

Separate the fur at the nape of the neck (on the back between the shoulder blades) until you can see your pet’s skin. This is the recommended spot to give almost all topical medications because your cat cannot reach that area to lick it off.

Step 3

Apply the entire contents of the tube or syringe to the skin where you parted the fur. Do not bathe your pet 2 days before or after applying and avoid petting that area.
