Dr. Amanda Della Penna

Starting her education with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Bethany College, Dr. Amanda Della Penna then attended veterinary school at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Since graduation, she has worked in the Pittsburgh area for most of her career. Starting Family Vet Care Center was her long-term dream, and she couldn’t be happier it is now a reality.

Having spent the majority of her career in emergency medicine, it is Dr. Della Penna’s goal to bring the high level of skill and care she gained in the ER to her private practice, benefitting your pets on a daily basis.

Dr. Della Penna’s special interests include surgery, emergency medicine, point-of-care ultrasound, and preventative medicine. In her free time, Dr. Della Penna enjoys snowboarding, spending time in nature, and watching Pittsburgh Penguins hockey and The Ohio State Buckeyes football team. She has two cats at home.

Dr. Nicole Hladio

Dr. Hladio studied biology at the University of Notre Dame and veterinary medicine at North Carolina State University. She has spent her career working in both emergency medicine and general practice. With years of exploring a variety of medical specialties, she is especially interested in ophthalmology, soft tissue surgery, and emergency medicine. Dr. Hladio’s favorite place to be is the beach with sand beneath her toes and waves crashing on the shore. She has one dog and three cats at home.

Dr. Madeline Leidy

Dr. Leidy attended the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. From there, she completed an internship out west in Arizona. Her career has been a combination of both emergency medicine and general practice. After years of practicing, Dr. Leidy is especially interested in emergency medicine, preventative care, and client education. In her free time, she enjoys boating, staying active, and antique shopping. She has two dogs and five cats at home.

Dr. Jessica Trail

Dr. Trail received a degree in Animal Science from Penn State University in 2010. After working at the University of Pittsburgh for a year, Dr. Trail moved to Philadelphia to attend veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated vet school in 2015, and then went on to complete a year-long rotating small animal internship at Tufts Veterinary Emergency Services in Walpole, MA. Since returning to Pittsburgh in 2016, she has worked in a variety of small animal general and emergency practices. She lives with her two Golden Retrievers, Pacer & Pigeon, and her cat, Sgt. Tibbs. Her hobbies include hiking, knitting, and reading. She also competes with her Golden Retriever in Rally and Obedience.

Dr. Jennifer Finn

Dr. Finn received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Shippensburg University in 2000. She went on to attend veterinary school at Purdue University in Indiana, graduating in 2005. Dr. Finn moved to Pittsburgh in 2008 with her husband, who is a veterinary ophthalmologist. Her special interests are dentistry and ophthalmology. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, Declan and Ashlyn. Her family has 2 guinea pigs, a hermit crab (that is 6 years old!), and a fish tank.

what is Family Vet Care Center?

We provide outpatient CT scans to deliver advanced diagnostic imaging at a lower cost for pets needing specialized care.

Accepting new clients! We offer same-day sick appointments (call ahead to schedule) and limited emergency surgeries that surrounding clinics may not handle.

Our clinic prioritizes quality care and client education, empowering you to make informed decisions about your pet’s health. Many pet parents trust us so much, they refer their friends and family to join the Family Vet Care Center community!

At Family Vet Care Center, our founder and lead veterinarian, Dr. Amanda Della Penna, has personally cultivated a policy of prioritizing patient care above all else. We value each of our clients and work closely with them to ensure their pets receive the best medical care possible. Behind our high-quality treatment is a team of experienced and dedicated veterinary professionals. The staff at Family Vet Care Center works seamlessly with our doctors to provide efficient and effective patient care. Our Administration Team

Alana

Front Office Manager

Alana is our front office manager. Outside of work, Alana enjoys going to concerts, listening to true crime podcasts, and playing games with her kids, husband and dog.

Katie

VP of Operations

Katie is one of our veterinary assistants. She has been in the veterinary field since 2016, with experience in emergency and general practice. She has a 2 year old Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix named Emerson and a 1 year old English Cream Golden Retriever named Phineas. Katie loves all things yinzer related, breweries, and traveling to new places with her fiancé.

Milena

VP of Marketing

Milena is our VP of Marketing. She graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in 2018 and started off her career in emergency and specialty medicine. Milena is the mom of her two dogs, Quake and Cleo, and she has a cat named Chip

Maureen

VP of Administration

Maureen, who also goes by Mo, is our VP of Administration. Mo has been in the veterinary field for the past 24 years. She is a dog mom to her two Dogue de Bordeaux’s, Harkin & Emeline.

Emily

Veterinary Technician

Emily is one of our veterinary technicians. She graduated from the Vet Tech Institiute in 2022 and completed her externship here at Family Vet Care Center. After completing her externship, she joined our team permanently as a certified vet tech. Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her daughter and getting cozy on the couch with a fuzzy blanket to watch movies. She also enjoys doing puzzles!

Lindsay

Veterinary Technician

Lindsay has been in the veterinary field since graduating from PCI in 2019, with experience in both Emergency and Specialty medicine (Surgery) since graduation! She is excited to experience a new setting! Lindsay has 1 cat (Kitty, 18 year old tabby/calico mix) that's been with her since childhood and her heart dog, Lila, an Australian Shepherd.

Anna

Veterinary Technician

Anna is one of our veterinary technicians. She graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in 2019 and has been in emergency medicine since. Anna has a pitbull named Cano and two cats, Reggie and Pogo - who is a tripod! In her free time she loves going to concerts, spending time with her loved ones, and tending to her plants.

Jordan

Veterinary Technician

Jordan is one of our veterinary technicians. She recently graduated from the Vet Tech Institute at the end of 2023, and completed her externship here at Family Vet Care Center and, In 2024 she passed the VTNE. In her free time, Jordan likes to read, hang out with friends, and travel. She has a cat named Kubota, and two dogs named Lola and Penny.

Aurora

Veterinary Assistant

Aurora is one of our veterinary assistants. She joined the veterinary field in 2020, graduating from VTI in 2021. She has experience in general practice, emergency, and critical care. In her free time she enjoys binge watching shows, enjoying nature, and spending time with her partner and their heard of fur and scaley babies which consist of a dog, 3 cats, a snake, and a turtle.

Taylor

Veterinary Assistant

Taylor is one of our veterinary assistants. She has worked in the veterinary field for 8 years, with the goal of becoming a veterinarian. She has two dogs, Stark and Maya, and a cat named Stevie. Outside of vet med, she also has her own photography business! Taylor enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, being outside, or traveling.

Suzanna

Veterinary Assistant

Suzanna is one of our veterinary assistants. She has been in the veterinary medicine world for about 3 years. Suz has two cats named Timmy and Dill. She loves all dogs, but Pitbulls and Great Danes hold a special place in her heart!

Shannon

Veterinary Assistant

Shannon has been in the veterinary field for 25 years, and has a soft spot for senior dogs! She is a mom to a wonderful Aussie rescue named Magic, and a mother and son pair of Persian cats, Halo and Stitch! She is obsessed with all things Disney, and in her free time she loves to travel the world, read, and cheer on the Pittsburgh Penguins!

Sara

Veterinary Assistant

Sara is one of our veterinary assistants. She has been in the field for 10 years, starting out as a receptionist in emergency. After transferring to general practice, she was cross trained to be a technician. Aside from being a true Pittsburgh sports fan, Sara enjoys reading and spending time with her niece and nephews.

Sam

Veterinary Assistant

Sam is one of our veterinary assistants. She graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in 2018. Sam loves animals, music, and baking. She was also a baker for 2-3 years. She has two dogs, Malakia and Alaura, and three cats named Kit, Rhyn, and Roman.

Lindsey

Veterinary Assistant

Lindsey is one of our veterinary assistants. She has been working in the veterinary field for 8 years. In her spare time, she enjoys riding bikes and hiking. Lindsey is an animal lover, and has a family that consists of 5 dogs, 3 cats, and a horse! Although she loves her furry family, Lindsey’s favorite animal is an alligator!

Holly

Veterinary Assistant

Holly is one of our veterinary assistants. She has been working in the veterinary field for almost 17 years. She enjoys client education and ensuring patients get the best care possible! She has worked in clinics all over the US including Philadelphia, Florida, and Arizona. Holly lives with her husband, twins, 2 dogs, and 2 cats. She loves Star Wars, 80’s movies, scary books, cats, and anything cheese. Outside of work she likes to watch movies, ride ATV’s/four wheelers, and spend time with her family.

Christian

Veterinary Assistant

Christian is one of our veterinary assistants. He just graduated from college and is pursuing a career to become a veterinarian. He has a dog named Kora and two guinea pigs, Pumpkin and Little. In his free time, Christian enjoys drawing, playing video games, and listening to music/singing.

Shelby

Patient Care Coordinator

Shelby is one of our patient care coordinators. She has two Doberman Pinschers named Fang and Remy. She also has five cats named Idgie, Salem, Bean, Peanut, and Baby. In her spare time, Shelby enjoys reading, playing video games, and crafting.

Megan

Patient Care Coordinator

Megan is one of our patient care coordinators. She has two cats named Rhys and Maya, and lives with a dog named Nona. Megan’s hobbies include writing, thrifting, and everything horror!

Jake

Patient Care Coordinator

Jake is one of our patient care coordinators. When he’s not building trusting relationships with our clients, he enjoys spending his free time outdoors. Serving as a liaison between our doctors and pet-parents, he’s happy to help keep all of our guests comfortable. Jake is also a loving dog dad to his labradoodle.

Francesca

Patient Care Coordinator

Francesca is one of our patient care coordinators. She enjoys meeting and learning about our clients and their furry friends. In her free time, Francesca enjoys rock climbing and spending time with family and friends!

Ericka

Patient Care Coordinator

Ericka is one of our patient care coordinators. She has been a veterinary receptionist for almost 3 years, and would some day love to work in pet nutrition. In her free time, Ericka enjoys listening to podcasts, watching YouTube, and hanging out with her cats. She loves to learn new things and see new places, with her dream destination being Japan!

Our Kennel Assistants

Cait

Kennel Assistant

Cait is one of our kennel assistants. She enjoys spending time with her friends, road trips, and shopping! She lives in South Side with her Golden Retriever pup, Nacho, and her roommates Annie, Michael, Blue (Labradoodle), and Grouch (sassy cat). Cait also helps out with FVCC’s inventory and marketing, taking pictures of our adorable patients!
